The Palacio de Congresos, currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, is a state-of-the-art conference and exhibition centre in the heart of Valencia, Spain. Also known as the Palace of Light, due to its glass-fronted façade and distinctive roof design, the Palacio regularly accommodates large-scale international conferences organized by multinationals, trade associations and government organizations. Most events gravitate around the main auditorium with room for up to 1,481 participants, as well as smaller auditoria with capacities for 467 and 270 people. If needed, an IP-based video and audio network can connect up to 2,250 participants across these separate conference rooms.
Given the international character of most of the conferences it hosts, simultaneous interpretation is essential at the Palacio. The building management sought a solution that would take this into account, along with the facility’s existing architecture and infrastructure. Two of its three auditoria are equipped with fixed interpreter booths. Although the smallest auditorium and the conference center’s ten smaller meeting rooms do not include interpreter booths, simultaneous interpretation is also often required in these spaces. It was also important that the new conferencing system would not require any additional investment for wiring or cable connections.
The from Bosch provided the perfect solution. Because the system is IP-based and Ethernet compatible, the existing IT infrastructure of the Palacio de Congresos could be used. The OMNEO* Interface allows transportation of the language channels via the IT network from the auditoria with fixed interpreter booths to the meeting areas that don’t have these facilities. DICENTIS streams the language channels from the interpreter desks to the DICENTIS Conference devices in the main auditoria, and also to all the active conference devices in the Palacio’s smaller meeting areas. The floor languages of the active conference devices, regardless of their location, are streamed back to the interpreter desks.
To serve the smaller meeting areas, the DICENTIS central equipment is installed in a small mobile rack for easy transportation and setup. Additionally, the DICENTIS Conference devices with channel selector can be transported from one room to another in specially made, high-quality, lightweight and sturdy cases for protection during transit. The mobile rack simply connects to the room’s IT network plug to connect to the equipment in the various meeting rooms.
This smart, mobile DICENTIS solution meets the requirements of all the meetings held in the Palacio de Congresos. The capacity for simultaneous interpretation in all the meeting areas means 2,250 participants can be connected across all conference areas big and small.

Bosch has expanded its Dicentis family with an interpreter desk that supports up to 100 interpreted languages.
The design of the desk logically separates the incoming and outgoing languages in two vertically aligned columns via a high-contrast screen for quick comprehension and intuitive operation. Three assignable buttons provide the interpreter with short-key functions for quick access to supporting functions such as “video select.” The HDMI output enables an external video screen to be added, so the interpreter can see the participant speaking or the participant’s presentation.
Dicentis uses encryption standards for all audio and data. Audio and control is handled by Omneo IP technology, which also allows for system integration with third-party solutions. Omneo also enables the use of existing network infrastructure.
The Dicentis interpreter desk is fully compatible with the Dicentis platform and complies with the simultaneous interpreting equipment standard ISO 20109. It enables the creation of passive overflow rooms adjacent to the main meeting room in case there are more participants than can be accommodated at the main meeting location.
Using the Dicentis Meeting application, all languages and interpreter desks can be remotely configured and managed.

Bosch’s Praesensa call station has won a Red Dot Design Award while the Dicentis interpreter desk has been honoured with an iF Design Award.
‘The design of our conference products is very important to us, both in respect of a product’s aesthetic value within a meeting room, and the experience that our users have with it,’ commented Lars van den Heuvel, director of global product management for conference and discussion at Bosch Building Technologies. ‘We start very early with the design process as a core element within each development project. Winning the Red Dot and IF Design awards is a recognition of the great effort that we put into this.’
The Red Dot was awarded in recognition of Praesensa’s focus on the user experience with its use of an Omneo IP architecture, supporting Dante and Power over Ethernet (PoE). Omneo IP is also at the core of the Dicentis interpreter desk, enabling simple integration with third party systems.
Away from the conference room, Bosch Group’s Electro-Voice and Dynacord brands also received Red Dot Awards for the Evolve 50 portable column speaker and L3600FD DSP power amplifier respectively.

With 285 upscale bedrooms and suites offering panoramic views of the city, the 30-story Las Américas Golden Tower Hotel Panama, designed by Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott, is a landmark in the heart of Panama’s financial and business district. Its auditorium for up to 460 people and seven flexible conference rooms including restaurants and bars host illustrious events ranging from the Panama Film Festival to the International Meeting of Economists, to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Panama.
Bosch provided the new hotel with a comprehensive, state-of-the-art safety and security system covering fire protection, public address, access control and video security. The objective was the highest safety and security for guests, visitors and staff, with security being as unobtrusive and invisible as possible, blending in with the interior design of rooms and common areas so it would not interfere with the generous, luxurious look and feel of the hotel. Another requirement for the hotel was to manage the entire system centrally from one platform.
For fire protection, more than 1,000 fire detection sensors were installed in corridors, conference rooms and common areas, all controlled by the Bosch Modular Fire Panel 5000 Series.
Also controlled by the central fire panel is a Plena Voice Alarm System with 250 loudspeakers, which was integrated into the interior design and distributed among common areas of the hotel as well as in corridors and conference spaces. It serves several purposes: playing ambient music, paging guests and – in the case of emergency – making evacuation announcements.
For video security, a mix of 220 Bosch network cameras have been installed: AUTODOME IP 7000 cameras to monitor the perimeter of the hotel, DINION IP bullet 5000 HD cameras for the parking area, and inside the hotel FLEXIDOME IP 5000 HD cameras for the corridors. All network cameras are managed centrally via the Bosch Video Management System (BVMS).
The Bosch, access control system, makes sure only employees, and authorised hotel staff can enter restricted areas. FLEXIDOME IP 5000 HD cameras have been integrated with the access control system to improve levels of security by enabling access authorisation of hotel staff via video verification.
The complete Bosch safety and security solution can be monitored and managed from one control room thanks to the integration into one single platform: the Building Integration System BIS from Bosch.

The town of Morbegno in the Italian Alps near the Swiss border will be relying on the competence of Bosch Energy and Building Solutions Italy to boost energy efficiency in its public buildings and other facilities within the scope of a long-term project financing contract.
Among other things, it includes installing LED technology in all public lighting and in the interior lighting systems of municipal buildings, upgrading the municipal heating systems while continuing to maintain the existing district heating network, bringing the fire protection systems and warning signs in all municipal buildings into line with current standards, installing new public lighting systems within the scope of the “Progetto Parchi Sicuri 2017” (2017 Safe Parks Project) and carrying out both routine and any required special maintenance of the upgraded systems.
The contract also calls for modernising panelboards and replacing over 15,000 meters of power lines, installing a solar power system and an air-water heat pump, and implementing a number of “smart city” functions such as a 24/7 call center, remote control and management of systems, and new photovoltaic systems on municipal facilities with total capacity of 45 kW.
Under the terms of the contract, Bosch Energy and Building Solutions Italy will plan and implement all of the measures and ensure that everything works properly over the next 20 years. “The contract with Bosch will give our town technologically advanced, high-quality equipment and systems,” says engineer Giorgio Ciapponi, who is responsible for the project on the Morbegno town council. “We’re also confident that we will save money in the long term by having Bosch maintain and operate our systems.” Carlo Papi, commercial director of the public administration division of Bosch Energy and Building Solutions Italy, explains: “Working with a certified energy service company (ESCo) like us is a way for small communities like Morbegno to significantly improve their energy efficiency. The available public funding often isn’t enough. We’re going to invest 2.63 million euros in this project.”
