The Geneva International Motor Show attracts more than 700,000 visitors every year and hosts the largest and most renowned car manufacturers from around the globe. It is one of the world’s three most prestigious and influential car shows, alongside the Detroit Auto Show and the IAA in Frankfurt. This year in Geneva, Source Four fixtures from ETC were among the luminaires selected to highlight the new models unveiled by premium car manufacturers Mercedes-Benz and Audi.
The task of lighting automotive shows can be a challenging one, with some naming them among the most demanding lighting design projects. Lighting plays a crucial role in such events – brands want to draw attention to their displays with precise illumination, without skewing the appearance of the colour finishes of the vehicles. Consequently, only the best systems on the market are selected to showcase the major car brands’ latest and greatest creations.
For the 2018 edition of the Geneva Motor Show, German-based company rgb GmbH was entrusted to supply bespoke lighting solutions for the exhibition spaces of Audi and Mercedes-Benz. In order to perfectly illuminate global premieres from Mercedes-Benz – including the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé and the extensively redesigned C-Class –the rgb team specified only the highest quality luminaires. Among the fixtures selected were 141 Source Four PAR 750, 43 Source Four Profile 750 and three Source Four LED Series 2 Daylight HD from ETC. Meanwhile, an exclusive press event for Mercedes-Benz called for an additional 49 Source Four LED Series 2 Daylight HD fixtures, a further 25 Source Four PAR 750 and 28 Source Four PAR 575.
Additionally, almost 140 ETC fixtures were positioned to complement the Audi exhibition area, including 54 Source Four Profile 750 and 53 Source Four LED Series 2 Daylight HD luminaires.
Dirk Feuerstein, CEO of rgb GmbH, stated: “We ensured that the Mercedes-Benz and Audi vehicles were lit precisely with high quality daylight colour temperature; while the stands were bathed in a warm, pleasant glow from the LED luminaires, which emit less heat.”

Chitara Sound from Mozambique, a long-time Prosound client, recently supplied and installed a Bosch DCN delegate discussion and interpretation system to the Mozambique National Assembly in Maputo.
The system was purchased from Prosound, with assistance from Pepe Khumalo, senior technical sales person from Prosound’s Johannesburg offices, offering advice and technical assistance.
Chitara Sounds successfully installed and commissioned two delegate meeting rooms at the Assembly.

Aaron from Crotchet Music has long been a big fan of the Electro-Voice ETX range of powered loudspeakers. Having purchased a pair of ETX35’s and ETX18SP subs initially, he has been doing numerous gigs with great success and has steadily grown his stock of ETX speakers to also include ETX12P’s and ETX15P’s.
Crotched Music was contracted to provide PA and a recording for a sold-out Live Gospel show at the infamous Bassline. Aaron came to the venue with his Electro-Voice ETX rig consisting of the 2 x ETX35’s, 4 x ETX18SP’s and two ETX12P’s as side-fills. The initial response to his proposed rig was of disbelieve and a sense that the system will not be sufficient for the gig – however everybody was blown away by the performance of the system, and was full of praise how great it sounded.

The Palacio de Congresos, currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, is a state-of-the-art conference and exhibition centre in the heart of Valencia, Spain. Also known as the Palace of Light, due to its glass-fronted façade and distinctive roof design, the Palacio regularly accommodates large-scale international conferences organized by multinationals, trade associations and government organizations. Most events gravitate around the main auditorium with room for up to 1,481 participants, as well as smaller auditoria with capacities for 467 and 270 people. If needed, an IP-based video and audio network can connect up to 2,250 participants across these separate conference rooms.
Given the international character of most of the conferences it hosts, simultaneous interpretation is essential at the Palacio. The building management sought a solution that would take this into account, along with the facility’s existing architecture and infrastructure. Two of its three auditoria are equipped with fixed interpreter booths. Although the smallest auditorium and the conference center’s ten smaller meeting rooms do not include interpreter booths, simultaneous interpretation is also often required in these spaces. It was also important that the new conferencing system would not require any additional investment for wiring or cable connections.
The from Bosch provided the perfect solution. Because the system is IP-based and Ethernet compatible, the existing IT infrastructure of the Palacio de Congresos could be used. The OMNEO* Interface allows transportation of the language channels via the IT network from the auditoria with fixed interpreter booths to the meeting areas that don’t have these facilities. DICENTIS streams the language channels from the interpreter desks to the DICENTIS Conference devices in the main auditoria, and also to all the active conference devices in the Palacio’s smaller meeting areas. The floor languages of the active conference devices, regardless of their location, are streamed back to the interpreter desks.
To serve the smaller meeting areas, the DICENTIS central equipment is installed in a small mobile rack for easy transportation and setup. Additionally, the DICENTIS Conference devices with channel selector can be transported from one room to another in specially made, high-quality, lightweight and sturdy cases for protection during transit. The mobile rack simply connects to the room’s IT network plug to connect to the equipment in the various meeting rooms.
This smart, mobile DICENTIS solution meets the requirements of all the meetings held in the Palacio de Congresos. The capacity for simultaneous interpretation in all the meeting areas means 2,250 participants can be connected across all conference areas big and small.

The Response MIDI Gateway is a reliable, portable device that can send and receive info in all formats of MIDI: Note, Show Control (MSC), and Time Code (MTC).
